RPX Empower is RPX Corporation’s patent-risk and litigation-intelligence platform, launched in April 2024 as the software layer over RPX’s longer-running patent-risk business. The strongest evidence points to four connected jobs. First, litigation teams use it to understand judges, plaintiffs, entities, and campaign behavior across district court, PTAB, ITC, Federal Circuit, Supreme Court, and reexamination proceedings without manually stitching sources together. Second, patent litigators use it to see how the same plaintiff or monetization entity is behaving across related matters, assignments, and venues. Third, the February 2026 Patlytics partnership extends RPX Empower into invalidity and infringement workflows by letting users cross-link into Patlytics for AI-powered evidence-of-use and invalidity work while pulling Empower’s litigation, assignment, and entity intelligence back in. Fourth, RPX is positioning License Manager as a system of record for inbound and outbound patent rights, although the clearer practitioner pain remains pre-litigation risk and active defense rather than generic portfolio administration. Market validation is narrower than for mainstream legal analytics products. I found almost no G2/Capterra footprint and very little Empower-specific community discussion. What does exist is stronger in specialist IP channels: RPX’s own launch materials, Mondaq and other litigation references pointing to Empower assessments, niche Reddit discussion of RPX as a patent-troll defense player, and live product pages showing active litigation-defense, webinars, and alert workflows. Pricing and security documentation remain thin in public materials.

What practitioners struggle with

Real frustrations from legal professionals — the problems Rpx Empower addresses (or should address). Sourced from practitioner reviews, Reddit threads, and case studies.

Patent litigation partner needs to know judge X's claim construction tendencies, opposing counsel's win rate on summary judgment motions, and which damages experts the other side typically retains — but this intelligence is locked in individual attorneys' heads and scattered across firm matter files

Patent case outcomes depend heavily on the assigned judge and PTAB panel — but there's no systematic way to analyze how a specific judge has ruled on Alice/Section 101 motions, Markman hearings, or damages calculations without manually reading hundreds of orders

A quiet patent assignment lands in an NPE shell company while my team is about to ship a product or renew a license, and I need to know whether a campaign is forming before the complaint arrives, so I can change launch, licensing, or defense plans while I still have options.

Where it fits in your workflow

Before Rpx Empower

A patent assignment moves into a monetization entity, a complaint is threatened or filed, or outside counsel needs to understand the plaintiff's broader campaign before deciding whether to fight, settle, challenge validity, or seek a license.

After Rpx Empower

After RPX Empower surfaces entity intelligence, litigation history, patent assignments, and risk signals, teams still decide whether to launch a defensive response, retain outside counsel, run invalidity or infringement work in Patlytics, negotiate a license, or change product and portfolio strategy.

Integrations & hand-offs

Empower Litigation Defense feeds judge, venue, campaign, and NPE intelligence into outside-counsel strategy. Patent Analytics hands portfolio and assignment context into Patlytics for invalidity and evidence-of-use analysis. License Manager bridges legal, IP, and finance teams when license terms, royalty obligations, or encumbrances need to be tracked as part of a broader risk response.
