Primafacie
What it is
What It Does
PrimaFacie (now branded Prima.Law) is cloud-based case management software for immigration law practices, with additional support for federal district court, bankruptcy, Social Security, and collections work. It automates filling of US immigration forms (for example I-130, I-485, I-765), ships preloaded checklists and case flows across many immigration case types, and includes a client portal, SMS/MMS messaging via Twilio, time tracking, invoicing, and trust accounting. It syncs with Clio and PracticePanther and connects to other apps via Zapier.
What We Found
The company was founded in 2014 by immigration lawyer James Betzold and is based in Holland, Michigan. The product launched publicly in 2016 as PrimaFacie and later rebranded to Prima.Law. It is listed on G2, Capterra, GetApp, Software Advice, and the Clio app directory. One comparison listing cites a starting price around $35 per user per month, which we have not independently confirmed.
Who It’s For
Built for immigration attorneys and paralegals — solo through small/mid-size firms. Not designed for corporate, litigation, or in-house teams outside the immigration/federal-filing space.
What We Haven’t Verified
- Pricing — the ~$35/user/month figure comes from a third-party listing, not the vendor.
- Headcount (11-50) is from LinkedIn, not confirmed directly.
- Integration claims (Clio, PracticePanther, 1,400+ Zapier apps) — passed through, not tested.
Note: an earlier crawl linked this entry to uk.linkedin.com/company/prima-facie-consultants-limited, an unrelated UK consultancy. That handle (and the tied 2-10 headcount) has been replaced with the vendor’s actual handle, linkedin.com/company/primafacie. This entry and prima-law are the same product and should be merged.
