What It Does

TrueLaw is a legal-AI lab that builds custom models for litigation, investigations, eDiscovery and compliance work. Its “Expert Legal Model” (ELM) approach is positioned around fine-tuning AI to a client’s specific practice areas and data, taking material such as emails, contracts and financial reports and turning it into summaries, timelines and insights. The company states it is SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA compliant.

What We Found

TrueLaw is based in New York and was founded by people with backgrounds at AI labs and tech companies. In June 2025 it was acquired by Consilio, the eDiscovery and legal-services provider, which folded TrueLaw’s AI work into its own private architecture. The LinkedIn page now lists the company as “TrueLaw (A Consilio Company)”.

What We Haven’t Verified

• The “veterans of premier AI labs / Google and Apple” founder claim is vendor-reported and not independently confirmed.
• Founding date and headcount as a standalone — it now operates inside Consilio.
• Acquisition terms were not disclosed.
