HighQ
Part of the Thomson Reuters platform.
What it is
HighQ is Thomson Reutersβ legal collaboration platform β secure file sharing, client portals and extranets, virtual data rooms, transaction management and workflow automation, sold today as Thomson Reuters HighQ.
Founded in London in 2001 by Ajay Patel and Veenay Shah, HighQ grew for fifteen years without outside money before taking a $50M round in January 2016 (Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, One Peak Partners) to push into the US. It acquired Legal Anywhere in 2018, and Thomson Reuters acquired HighQ in July 2019; at the time TR cited more than 400 customers including over half of the Global 100 law firms. Terms were not disclosed. The founding-era product line was HighQ Collaborate (secure document exchange and collaboration), HighQ Publisher (client-facing publishing) and HighQ Dataroom (transactional VDR); post-acquisition these consolidated into the single HighQ platform inside TRβs legal portfolio.
The typical deployment is firm-side infrastructure β deal rooms, client extranets and matter-collaboration sites run by large-firm innovation and IT teams β which makes HighQ a fixture of BigLaw and Magic Circle workflows. Customer counts since the acquisition are not published; the 400+ figure is TRβs 2019 announcement and has not been independently updated.
