What it is
What It Does
PCLaw is a practice management and accounting product for law firms, sold under the LexisNexis brand. It combines matter management, time tracking, billing, and a full accounting package that handles both business accounting (general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, financial statements) and trust/IOLTA accounting. It was originally built by an independent company and later acquired by LexisNexis. Since 2019 it has been developed and supported through a joint venture between LexisNexis and LEAP.
What We Found
PCLaw has a long history as one of the more established small-firm practice management tools. Reviewers (G2, Lawyerist, Uptime Legal) tend to describe it as relatively straightforward to set up compared with other legal accounting systems. It is reviewed on Canadian Lawyer, reflecting a notable Canadian user base.
